06h00  to 15h00, meetting at Biohostal, departure by pick-up for 20 minutes, Sector of Nambillo river (hight part) in the San Lorenzo Birdroute.

Birding in the cloud forest then BirdBreakfast at Las Montañas Reserve, many hummingbirds, tanagers, etc. Then continue with trekking to:

a) Las montañas reserve, waterfalls, river and nice paths probably sunbitter or torrent duck on the way; or

b) Balneario Nambillo , river, waterfalls and place to swimming in a natural spring or

c)Cable car and santuary of waterfalls, including visit la reina and Nambillo waterfall or

d) San Lorenzo Rout: birding rout 4km to Biozone(restaurante Las Tongas), where it is posible to have a pause and Lunch, (don´t included).

 (DAY1)Once in Mindo, you are very welcome, accomodation , snack, then visit Rio Bravo Natural reserve direct in the heart of cloud forest, there we will have (lunch)  trekking cloud forest, after coffee.. pausa  to enjoy of the river (people who loves cold water), Night walking tour with frogs , lizards, snakes  and other insects or animals with night activity. back to Biohostal.  

 (DAY2) early in the morning birdwatching 06h00-09h30 birdbreakfast, then back to Mindo.  you can choose  2 activities for the rest of then day

MINDO STORY AND ANDEAN CHOCO IN ECUADOR (1250msnm)

Mindo was ocuped by anciest people of Yumbos and Mindalaes a sector of commerce between Coast and Sierra, they use "culuncos" old roads to walk in various km. distance aprox. 800km or less, use exchange products system "Tianguez-market" in Quito with the Quitus People, then come Inklas and finnaly the conquistors Spanish who interrupted this relatioship. This Area prefered by Dominican Order until xviii century. Later xix and xx centuries come people from any where in Ecuador, who livesonly from nature and its wood, until 1995 that appears ECOLOGIST GROUP "Amigos de la naturaleza" and  the conservation begins. Mindo ist reconoced by internacional Aufubon for Birds conservation like a IBA (internacional Bird Area) each second week in December we make bird count to registred all birds and their situation in the worl and sudamerica because some ofthen are migrants. with more tha 465-520 birds spp. Mindo was several times the first woldwide in number of bird species/ pro square kilometer. Mindo has  3 Biozones . some of the are (Bnm) Montane cloud forest and (Bsnmb) Low montane evergreen forest, with high hummidity (3.500mml /year) and provide Ecuador western area pure water. Mindo stay behind Quito City after the Pichinchas Volcanos in the western foothills, several and natural rivers such as Mindo, Nambillo, Cinto, Saloya, etc.

Flora-Fauna Diversity: Ozolote, andean Bear, capucchiner-monkeys, Deers several mamals, reptils, insects, Orquids, bromelians, etc . etc

Mindo Fue Tierra de los Yumbos y Mindalaes, Sector de comercio entre la costa y la sierra con el mercado Tianguez, hasta la aparición de Los Incas y posterior de los Españoles , Sector preferido por la Orden Dominicos, Tierra de Migrantes  de varios sectores, dedicados en su origen a la destrucción maderera hasta  1995  que aparece, GRUPO ECOLOGISTA  Amigos de la naturaleza y comienza  la conservación, Mindo primer IBA ecuatoriano a nivel Mundial, para el conteo de aves de Diciembre, varias veces primer lugar en el mundo con mas de 465-520 especies de aves, APROVECHE (Sin destruir ni cosechar plantas) de las bondades del bosque nublado, (Bnm) Bosque de neblina montano  y (Bsnmb) Bosque siempre verde montano bajo.

Se alimenta de la alta humedad (3.500mml/agua al año) gracias a varias influencias  que son típicas del Choco Andino en Ecuador,  AGUA (no la contamines) pura y natural, nace de las estribaciones occidentales del complejo volcánico Pichinchas, nacen varios ríos y riachuelos, RIOS :Mindo, Nambillo, Cinto, Saloya, etc.

FLORA-FAUNA AVIFAUNA: Monos capuchinos, Ozolote, Oso de anteojos, venandos, roedores, mamíferos, reptiles, anfibios, y aves muchas endémicas, orquídeas, y un etc etc etc, que debes descubrirlo tu mismo, concéntrate, mira  y disfruta de las maravillas naturales.

 SOCIAL Y ECOLOGICAMENTE RESPONSABLE

BIOHOSTAL es el centro de seminarios, reuniones y convenciones, de  y para grupos de ecologistas, ornitólogos y especialistas, muchos profesores han compartido y comparten su conocimiento para lo cual utilizan las instalaciones de la Biohostal  a los cuales casi siempre es de forma gratuita.

BIOZONE (sendero de las aves) a 4km, tenemos una finca donde apadrinamos árboles, reforestando…nuestro programa empezó en 2019 y  hasta 2021 en un año ya se han reforestado mas de 300 árboles que son de frutos y semillas exclusivos para las aves.

CHOCO Chocolate&Coffee usamos semillas producidas localmente en el valle de tulipe y alrededores de 35 comunidades, además de la cooperativa cacaotera Unocace que nos brindan semillas  de cacao FINO DEAROMA .ambos casos semillas  de cacao nacional, 

ACTIVIDADES RECOMENDADAS EN MINDO

OBSERVACION DE AVES

ACTIVIDAD 1:

MINDO AVES: posee 27 senderos cortos y largos en diversas alturas y ecosistemas para registrar las mas diversas en su estado natural; Milpe, Hacien da San Vicente, Reserva Rio Bravo, Reserva parte alta río Nambillo, ruta de San Lorenzo, etc. Los precios son diversos y el promedio de pago por entrada es de $5.- con Guia para mañana de avistamiento de Aves $50, Si desea contratar un Avi-Guía para observar aves el precio es diverso y va desde los $50-150 diario.  ACTIVIDAD 2

PUNTORNITHOLOGICO:(1250msnm)(Alcivar)

5 hectáreas de bosque secundario en regeneración, el mejor lugar para observar  alrededor de 200 especies de aves en un solo lugar, con un promedio de 70 aves al día. Incluye algunos comederos, bebederos, ecosistemas de White-Breasted Crake, Potoo, Toucan, Snail Kite, Sunbitter, Toucanet, etc. asi como caminatas nocturnas para observar anphibios especialmente rana de cristal, reptiles, amblipigios, insectos.. etc.

 ACTIVIDAD 3

SAN TADEO O LAS COTINGAS: (1800msnm) (Rolando), hermoso lugar para observar tangaras, colibríes diferentes a los Colibries de Mindo por la diferencia altitudinal, esp. Toucan Barbet, Crimson Toucan, Ademas de hermosa vista del valle de Mindo, También se puede coordinar con Rolando, Visita a la reserva las Cotingas y al lek Gallo de La Peña.

 ACTIVIDAD 4

BIOZONE: (1600msnm) Ubicado como parte de la ruta de las cascadas o cresta de San Lorenzo, 180 especies registradas en el sector (Julia Patiño), 95 especies para el área (Nelson Apolo) de 15 hectáreas, especialmente aves sin comederos ni bebederos, pero directo en la naturaleza. Toucanes, Arazaris, Woodpecker, Bat Falcon, Swallow Tail Kite, Parrots, Loras, Tangaras etc. Tambien se pueden extender en la observación de aves a la finca DON LUCHO (84 hectáreas), para seguir observando las aves coloridas del bosque nublado. Con paciencia y con estadías largas en BioZone(Cabaña) se puede registrar muchísimas especies de aves.

 

TOUR NATURAL

Flora y Fauna propia de Bosque Nublado  por enumerar algunas de las familias y especies mas representativas, Orquídeas, Mariposas, Bromelias, Heliconias, Puma, Ozolotes, Venados, Guatuzas, Olingos, Nutrias, Ranas de Cristal, Monos capuchinos, etc.

 ACTIVIDAD 5

RESERVA RIO BRAVO (1700msnm) 

Parte del bosque nublado y en medio de la reserva Mindo-Nambillo, tiene una estación que apoya a los investigadores, Biólogos y visitantes que gustan de caminar en el bosque para visitar sus cascadas, senderos y ríos. Bosque primario en su mayoría y parte secundario en regeneración, el mejor lugar para observar aves, insectos, orquídeas, anphibios. Etc.

 ACTIVIDAD 6

RESERVA CASA AMARILLA-HDA SAN VICENTE

Cerca del parque central de Mindo (1300-1500msnmAquí es una reserva solo para caminar en un sendero principal y varios secundarios, si tomas el sendero R5 darás la vuelta en el tope del área prevista para visitantes, desde el ingreso hasta los 2km.encontraras guayabales y área de pastoreo para vacas y caballos (protégete con repelente por la presencia de coloradilla) desde el 3kmentras al bosque secundario en regeneración y los dos últimos 4y 5 km. son de bosque primario. Todos los senderos están señalados, lleva un snack, agua y algo mas..

 ACTIVIDAD 7

PARTE ALTA DEL RIO NAMBILLO

Con auto avanzamos  6km en la ruta

san lorenzo y luego caminamos a orillas del rio Nambillo 2 o 3km.. se puede observar aves, y un sentimiento de naturaleza rodea el lugar montañoso. Si desean pueden bañarse en una ensenada natural del rio. Si demoran es mejor llevar un Snack de Biozone y agua.

MARIPOSARIOS

Existen 3 mariposarios en Mindo.

Nathalie, Mariposas de Mindo, Nosotros te recomendamos el Jardín de mariposas, ya que es posible visitar el rio Nambillo y un corto sendero con la misma entrada. Esta a 4km de Mindo y necesitas2-3horas.
